An amazing win for Smiths Triumph Racing team today at the historic and some believe to be the ultimate Isle of Man TT races! Gary Johnson won the Monster Energy Supersport Race 1 on a Triumph 675, the first TT win for Triumph in 10 years.
Johnson commented on the secret to his win… “I was just told to go and get on the bike and ride it like you have stolen the bike from your dad. That’s what I did and it worked out perfectly!”
What an amazing race , and amazing history. In 1956 Bob McIntyre set the first 100mph average at the IoM on 4 cylinder Gilera. It had about 70 bhp and by today’s standards mediocre brakes, tyres and handling. What an incredible achievement.
