On Sunday, October 26th, I met up with 4 friends from the Windy City RATs group for a ride up into the Kettle Morraine area of Wisconsin. We had great fall weather in the upper 40’s and lower 50’s, and mostly sunny. I left my home around 7:30 AM and rode west to ward Motor Cycle Center in Villa park. After gassing up near there, we met at a McDonald’s at the corner of St. Charles Road and Villa Avenue. Those who I joined me on my black Triumph Bonneville for this ride were: Chris Lenke on a blue Triumph Sprint, Rob McKinley on a red Triumph Sprint, David Riggerberg on a white Triumph Tiger, and Frank Vito Maggerise on a black Triumph Adventurer.

We headed north from Villa Park and took US and state roads avoiding the Interstate highways. Our first pit stop was in Elkhorn, Wisconsin at a gas station/deli called Shaver’s.

From there we header further north through scenic and rustic county roads until we stopped for lunch at Knuckleheads in Eagle, Wisconsin.

After a good lunch we headed out for another hour of rides on some great roads in the area, then south back toward Chicago. If you didn’t join us, you missed a great experience!

The Windy City RATs are an informal group of Triumph Riders who meet monthly on the first Thursday of the month, 7 PM at:

Brick House Tavern + Tap
