Here’s a GoPro video of a typical ride to work for me… happens year round an average of at least 3 times a week which translates to at least 3,000 miles/year. With the other trips and rides I take it gets me up to 10K average miles per year since I bought my first Bonneville in 2008. I shot this with a GoPro Hero3+ mounted on the top of my Shoei GT-Air helmet. At 2:40 min. into the video you’ll see me enter Oak Park Bakery and pick up my usual couple of glazed donuts – they are great folks!

Cool vid! Thanks for sharing. I’ve never been to Chicago before. Is traffic normally that light?
Eugene,
At 5-6 am in the morning this is pretty typical.. pretty light traffic. Going home at 5-6 PM is a different story! It takes me 15-30 minutes in the morning and anywhere from 30 – 60 minutes going home!
🙂
Randy
Nice.
Nice ride, mine is very similar here in Australia, but, and I could not make out the detail; Speeds always appear faster on film, what was your speed in built up areas? It was interesting to note your tick-over I guess1200-1800 rpm? Mine is lower I think too low, I also get excessive popping on overrun. I think I am still weak low down. I have not chanced my pilot tubes for the 42’s which I believe you have done. Still working on it. Mike
So I changed the pilot jets to 42’s and took the opportunity while the carbs were off to screw in full the ‘D’ screws ( Mixture. ) then out 2.5 turns, all together again and,,,,.. Runs like a pig! I’m getting spitting like billy-oh from the left hand carb. I think it is an air leak probably a crushed ‘O’ ring, they are a devil of a job to re-align with the air box still in place, so cramped. Any other thoughts?
Great vid! Quick question: Is that a Norman Hyde M Bars? How do you rate/review it? Wondering on getting one…
Nice ride to work Randy, nothing like the LA traffic but at least we can lane split here. Looking at your gear, I noticed your gloves. What kind are they? Look up the Hi-5 Helimot Gloves , you can thank me later. One more thing: You should check out that Brazilian Restaurant next to Oak Park Bakery. I know I would…
MD,
The gloves I use are made by Lee Parks Design and are called DeerSports – see http://www.leeparksdesign.com/deersports/ They are the most comfortable and durable gloves I have yet owned. Thanks for the Helmiot recommendation: https://shop.helimot.com/shopping/shopexd.asp?id=202
Oh and thanks for the recommendation on the Brazilian Restaurant – I’ve always wondered about it.
