Last year I wrote how I got wet on my way up to Gingerman Raceway in Michigan for a Track Day. A friend recently asked me what I had done about that… and I realized I had not yet done anything. So, I just did.

I had looked at various rainwear products at the two Triumph dealers in Chicago area (Motoworks Chicago, and Motor Cycle Center) and seen a range of products. I realized that the rain wear I already had was cheap and low quality, especially by comparison to what was available and I had learned my lesson that it does not pay to undercut on quality.

I do remember being most impressed with the quality of the Firstgear products, and since I had a good experience with Firstgear heated gloves and socks, I decided to check out their rain wear products online. I was most impressed with the Sierra product and liked the idea of the Day-glo color because of the added visibility and safety factor.

Based upon that information and my past good experience with Firstgear, I decided to make my Firstgear rain wear purchases online at Motorcycle Superstore.

Since my feet had also gotten wet and created the most uncomfortable element on my Gingerman Track Day experience, I decided to also get some boot covers. Motorcycle Superstore had these Tour Master products on sale, so I added them as well.

The entire order was $220.97. I will update this posting after I receive the products and have a chance to test them out in the real world!

April 16, 2013 Update

My Firstgear rain wear arrived today. It is a high quality, well-made product. I ordered size “large” thinking I would need that to fit over the riding armor and gear I would have on underneath. Well, it is plenty large! I hesitated about maybe sending it back for a medium, but then decided that I would rather have it slightly large and easier to get on and off, than to have a perfect fit. The Tour Master boot covers are also well made and of high quality. Now waiting for a good opportunity to test them out on the road in the real world!
