I recently decided that I needed to get a pair of serious motorcycle boots. I had several reasons:
- I wanted something waterproof having gotten soggy feet a few times wearing just regular leather boots/shoes… not fun!
- I wanted something warm because I ride year round
- I wanted more protection for my ankles and lower leg
- I wanted something easy to get on an off, that would also not easily come off or apart when it wasn’t supposed to!
I shopped at a few motorcycle retailers in the Chicago area and tried on boots by Dainese, Bilt, Gaerne, Triumph, and Alpinestars. I chose the pair of Alpinestars below and purchased them at Cycle Gear in Schaumburg, IL (about $250) because they met all my criteria, and were very comfortable for my feet. They are lined with GoreTex so they really wick moisture away and help keep my feet dry and comfy.
I have worn them now for several weeks in warm, cool and wet conditions and I am very pleased with their comfort, quality and performance.
